- Hipertonic : more concentration outside
- Hipotonic : less concentration outside
- Isotonic : same concentration
This day, we had to think what will happend to a :
- Red gummy bear with a lot of salt.
- Yellow gummy bear with honey.
- White gummy bear with a lot of water.
My hypothesis was:
- Red one, it will become harder.
- Yellow one, it will become smaller and with another color.
- White one, it will absorb the water and become harder.
The results were :
- Red gummy bear : It lost water and become smaller. The salt absorbs the water because it has more concentration ( hypertonic ) .
- Yellow gummy bear : Same concentration so it has the same size, but it became harder (isotonic 50 % sugar )
- White gummy bear : is bigger because it absorbed all the water, less concentration inside (hypotonic)
